Pair accused of attacking students walking home from Miami elementary school
MIAMI – A Miami man and woman are facing multiple charges after police say they attacked a pair of elementary students who allegedly had an altercation with a relative at school.
Dominique Miller and her daughter approached the students, aged 10 and 11, as they walked home from school and headed to a store near Northwest Fifth Avenue and 75th Street at around 5 p.m. Thursday, police said.
Miami police said Miller’s daughter had a prior altercation with the victims a few days earlier, which left Miller “dissatisfied” with the handling of the incident.
According to an arrest report, Miller, 36, confronted the elementary schoolers and began punching and kicking them.
Additionally, Miller forcibly removed dreadlocks from one of the victim’s heads, the report stated.
Shortly after, police said 18-year-old Randy Washington arrived at the scene in a vehicle and joined in the confrontation by attacking the students and punching the victims in the face.
Subsequently, Washington reached into one victim’s shirt pockets and said, “Give me that s—” before grabbing $24.
Fearing for their safety, the victims fled back home, where they told their parents about what happened, according to police.
Authorities said the victims sustained minor facial scratches from the attack, with one of the students missing a dreadlock.
According to the report, Miller denied engaging in a physical altercation with the victims and stated that she was only pushing the victims off as they attacked her.
Washington’s arrest report states that he also denied taking the $24 from the victim and claimed to have witnessed the victims throwing rocks at his vehicle, which started the confrontation.
Jail records show Washington is facing one count each of strong-armed robbery, child abuse with no great bodily harm and battery.

As of Friday, both suspects are being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, where their total bond has yet to be determined.
