Inter Miami predicted lineup vs Nashville

Inter Miami welcome Nashville SC to Chase Stadium this weekend as they look to maintain their impressive MLS form.

Led by Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Inter Miami find themselves top of the Eastern Conference just two months into the campaign, although they have played more games than any other side in the division.

Despite some significant injuries, a 3-2 victory against Sporting Kansas City last time out means that Gerardo Martino’s side have picked up 15 points from their opening nine games, and they will want to add to that tally when they welcome second from bottom Nashville to Florida.

Here is how Inter Miami could line up for this weekend’s clash.

GK: Drake Callender – The goalkeeper is still searching for his first clean sheet since early March, but undoubtedly remains Inter Miami’s first-choice stopper. He hasn’t managed a shutout in either game against Nashville this season.

RB: Marcelo Weigandt – One of the many Argentinian players in the Inter Miami squad now, the Boca Juniors loanee has started four of his side’s last five matches in all competitions.

CB: Tomas Aviles – The 20-year-old has played all nine of Inter Miami’s MLS games this term and has largely impressed for the Eastern Conference leaders. He’s likely to make another start against Nashville.

CB: Nicolas Freire – After a slowish start to his loan spell at Inter Miami, the Argentine has been more readily used by Martino in recent weeks. He’s started three of the last four games in all competitions and appears to have won favour with his manager.

LB: Franco Negri – Completing an all-Argentine back four, Negri is set to come in for injured former Barcelona defender Jordi Alba. The veteran is set to miss the next few matches with a hamstring issue.

CM: Julian Gressel – Has been integral on the right-hand side of a midfield three this season. His creativity is highlighted by three assists in his nine MLS outings.

CM: Sergio Busquets – Is now more or less a static point in Inter Miami’s midfield, keeping possession for Martino’s side and helping link defence with attack. Just don’t ask him to run.

CM: Benjamin Cremaschi – Made his first MLS appearance of the season against Sporting KC last time out after injury issues. The American may replace young David Ruiz in the engine room.

RW: Lionel Messi – The man that everyone at Chase Stadium will be desperate to see this weekend, Messi’s form has been impressive again this term. The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner has five goals and two assists in just five MLS outings.

ST: Luis Suarez – The Uruguayan star has been prolific since making the move to the United States and is the joint-top scorer in MLS this season with six goals. The former Liverpool and Barcelona forward is tied with Christian Benteke at the top of the rankings.

LW: Diego Gomez – Adds a bit of youthful exuberance to the Inter Miami front line, the 21-year-old Paraguayan starred in the 3-2 win over Sporting KC with a goal and an assist.
