Billionaire Miami real estate tycoon Patrick Carroll is taken for police-mandated health evaluation after posting unhinged Instagram videos threatening cops and shooting off boat

• Patrick Carroll, 45, shared concerning clips of himself firing a shotgun outside his Miami Beach mansion and ranting about the 2nd Amendment  
• The tycoon said that he was only firing blanks and he and cops ‘laughed about it’  
• He has reportedly been ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation

A billionaire Florida real estate tycoon has been ordered by cops to undergo a mental health evaluation after posting concerning clips of himself firing guns and ranting about the Second Amendment outside his Miami Beach mansion.

Patrick Carroll, a developer whose antics have garnered him over a million followers on Instagram, shared then deleted a clip of himself wearing a MAGA hat and firing a shotgun on a boat by his $19.5 million waterfront home on Thursday. 

The businessman, 45, said he was firing blanks, however the episode led his neighbors to call 911 on him, resulting in the evaluation order – which will also force him to relinquish his firearms within 72 hours. 

In response the next day, Carroll told The Real Deal that he wasn’t shooting live rounds, and said: ‘I spoke to cops, and they were laughing about it. I was doing it for an (Instagram) video.’ 

Miami Beach Police Department spokesman Christopher Bass confirmed that after cops were called to Carroll’s home, ‘he was transported to a local health care facility for a mental health evaluation.’

‘A risk protection order was served. This investigation continues,’ Bass said. 

In the clip that led cops to be called to his home, Carroll was seen stood at the front of a small yacht while straddling a shotgun.

Wearing a Make America Great Again hat and a white towel, Carroll fired the shotgun into the air three times with a big grin on his face. 

A person filming tells Carroll to be ‘careful Pat’, to which he responds: ‘Shut up.’ 

Before it was deleted, he captioned the video: ‘These are the only blanks I shoot.’ 

Carroll, a billionaire, has shown his love of Trump far beyond donning his famous red cap, as in February he got a tattoo of the former president’s mugshot on his arm. 

In another clip shared by Real Deal, Carroll was seen on a yacht shirtless with the Trump hat, as he ranted about his Second Amendment rights. It is not clear when the video was posted. 

The real estate developer, who reportedly sold his company last year for $80 million, pointed a shotgun down the barrel of the camera before saying: ‘I’m a big gun advocate.’ 

‘You know, it’s a Second Amendment right, so it’s my government right,’ he continued. ‘I did it the right way, I’ve been trained, I have a carry conceal permit.’

Panning the camera around to the ocean, he noted that he was ‘way off shore’, and insisted that ‘I know how to handle these guns.’

‘So, everything I’m putting out here is stuff that people are afraid to do but I can actually do, and it’s all good s***.

‘People may say, ‘oh god he’s shooting stuff, look at him he’s crazy’ – no, what I’m doing is trying to tell my followers and fans that you’d better learn to protect yourself.

‘This is a hard f*****g world.’

Although he reportedly claimed that cops were ‘laughing about it’ with him after he explained that he was firing blanks, Carroll has been ordered by police to undergo a mental health evaluation. 

Florida cops also used the state’s Red Flag law to obtain a court order that will force Carroll to relinquish all of his firearms within 72 hours. 

The Red Flag law was introduced in 2018 after the Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting, where 17 people were killed and 17 others were injured. 

The legislation allows cops to seek court orders temporarily barring individuals from buying and possessing firearms if they are deemed to be dangerous. 

In April 2023, Carroll was accused of spitting in the face of a manager at an upscale Miami restaurant, which the manager claimed happened after he stopped Carroll from harassing a woman at a nearby table, reports Real Deal. 

He denied spitting, and his attorney said it was an argument after the manager ‘issued what are known as fighting words.’ 

Carroll has continued to share unhinged rants and erratic behavior on his social medias since cops were called to his home on Thursday, including filming himself berating the manager of a Rolls-Royce dealership. 

He has also been embroiled in a public spat with nightclub owner David Grutman, after Carroll said he was told not to film in his LIV nightclub in Miami Beach. 

 In messages to Grutman that he reportedly shared, Carroll said: ‘F*** you fat boy. I’m going to put you out of business. Steal your wife if I want and many other things. You confused my kindness for weakness.’

In a response from Grutman, shared by Carroll, the nightclub told him: ‘I hope you get help.’ 

‘I hope you get the attention you’re seeking and sadly, I think you will end up dead…Everyone is [tuned] into your self-destruction and I know you can be better than this,’ he said.
