Pro Bowl LT Terron Armstead won’t retire, will return to Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins are getting a lift up front with team captain and Pro Bowl left tackle Terron Armstead deciding to return for the 2024 season, NFL Network reported Sunday.

Armstead, who will turn 33 in July, had been considering retirement. Instead, he and the club are working on a renegotiated contract that will give the team cap relief. His cap charge, $20.8 million, is the fifth-highest on the team.

Armstead’s return helps an offensive line that had been guaranteed to have only right tackle Austin Jackson and center/guard Liam Eichenberg returning as starters.

Center Connor Williams and guard Rob Hunt are about to enter free agency unless they can also come to terms.

Armstead has played 23 of a possible 34 games since arriving in 2022 via free agency. He has endured a string of injuries — as many as four at one time, causing him to miss time. But he also made the Pro Bowl both seasons with the Dolphins, raising his total number of Pro Bowl selections to five, stretching to his days with the New Orleans Saints.
