Inter Miami midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi out with sports hernia
Inter Miami CF are down another key player ahead of the 2024 MLS season, announcing Saturday homegrown midfielder Benjamin Cremaschi has undergone sports hernia surgery.
The 18-year-old US international, who remains eligible for Argentina, is expected to be sidelined between two to three months.
He also wasn’t part of Miami’s traveling squad for the Asian portion of their preseason tour.
However, the loss of Farías and Cremaschi – two of the club’s rising young stars – is a considerable blow for a squad that will take on several competitions this year – beginning with their Feb. 21 regular-season opener against Real Salt Lake at DRV PNK Stadium (8:00 pm ET | MLS Season Pass).
“We understand that’s an area where we can be left unprotected, especially after Facundo’s unfortunate injury,” head coach Gerardo Martino said earlier this week when asked if additional offseason signings were in the cards for Miami.
“As long as there are possibilities of searching and negotiating beneficially for the club, we’re going to do it.”
