Will Jalen Ramsey Play in Week 17?

BALTIMORE — When the Miami Dolphins hopped on a jet here Saturday, a couple of extremely important defensive backs were among those onboard.

Jalen Ramsey and Jevon Holland — who both are dealing with knee injuries — made the trip to Charm City, keeping alive the hope that they could play in Sunday’s mega showdown against the Baltimore Ravens.

Both Holland and Ramsey were officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game, but our sense is both will play.

Miami Dolphins Injury Updates for Jalen Ramsey, Jevon Holland

Holland hasn’t appeared in a game since spraining both MCLs on Black Friday.

But he’s made great progress in recent days and seems to be on track to play.

Ramsey, meanwhile, popped up on the injury report late this week with a knee issue — an alarming development, since he missed the first seven weeks of the season with a meniscus repair.

Ramsey was limited in practice on Friday after being a full participant on Wednesday and Thursday. The Dolphins listed him as questionable for Week 17, raising alarm bells.

Word around the organization is that Ramsey’s latest issue is relatively minor, but the loudest statement about his availability was what the Dolphins did not do: elevate a defensive back to the game day roster from the practice squad.

That suggests the Dolphins are confident that Ramsey and Holland both will be able to play on Sunday.

Holland is the quarterback of the Dolphins’ secondary and one of the best free safeties in all of football.

Ramsey, meanwhile, has helped transform the Dolphins’ defense into one of the league’s best. Since his return from knee surgery in Week 8, the Dolphins’ defense is second in EPA per play (-.164) and success rate (37.1%) and third in dropback EPA (-.133).

The Dolphins did make one practice squad elevation Saturday: They promoted EDGE defender Melvin Ingram for the second straight week. It’s unclear what that means for Emmanuel Ogbah, who has been dealing with a hamstring but had no injury designation this week.
