Cowboys vs. Dolphins line, odds, predictions: Our experts split on who will win between Dallas and Miami

We’ll know the answers to two important questions at the end of the game between the Dallas Cowboys and Miami Dolphins. Can the Cowboys beat playoff-bound teams on the road? And are the Dolphins capable of holding their own against the NFL’s best teams? Miami is a small favorite.

Kickoff is scheduled for 4:25 p.m. ET Sunday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla. Fox will broadcast the game.

These teams boast the top two scoring offenses in the NFL. The Dolphins average 31.5 points, just ahead of the Cowboys’ 30.8 points per game.

Dallas’ Dak Prescott-led offense has scored 40 or more points five times this season, but only one of those has been on the road and only two have come against teams with any shot of making the playoffs (Rams and Seahawks). Meanwhile, Dallas’ four losses have been on the road at Arizona, San Francisco, Philadelphia and Buffalo.

Still, racking up points has been a successful strategy for Prescott and his slew of weapons on the Dallas offense. The Cowboys have one of the NFL’s best scoring defenses, though lopsided wins against the Giants, Jets, Patriots, Commanders and Panthers, where the D gave up 10 points or fewer, skew the numbers.

The Dolphins (10-4) sit atop the AFC East and are a virtual lock to make the playoffs, but are they legit Super Bowl contenders?

Quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (71 percent completion rate, 25 touchdowns) and receiver Tyreek Hill (1,542 yards, 12 TDs) are both enjoying MVP-caliber seasons. Still, all of Miami’s wins have come against teams that currently sit at .500 or below. The closing stretch of the Cowboys, Ravens and Bills will show their true colors and reveal how the Dolphins’ middle-of-the-road defense handles itself against some of the league’s best teams.

Miami didn’t miss Hill in a 30-0 win against the Jets in Week 15. He was a game-time decision and remained on the sidelines, so he may suit up against Dallas. His presence would be a welcome sight in a game that could turn into a shootout and help provide some insights about both teams as we stride toward the postseason.
