Miami football has two top five 2024 flips
Five-star defensive linemen Armondo Blount and Justin Scott who signed with the Miami football program were named two of the top five flips in the 2024 Class by Keegan Pope of On3 earlier this week. Blount flipped from Florida State to Miami on Wednesday. Scott flipped to Miami from Ohio State on November 29,
Scott is the 15th ranked prospect, third DL and top player in Illinois in the 2024 class. Pope stated that Scott got re-intouch with Miami DL coach Joe Salave’a this fall after committing to Ohio State in July. Scott told On3 that Miami felt like family, a place he wanted to stay and the ability to play immediately influenced his flip.
In between the flip from Scott in November and Blount at the end of the opening day of the Early National Signing Period, Miami had two other big flips. Four-star running back Jordan Lyle flipped from Ohio State on Monday and four-star linebacker Adarius Hayes changed his pledge from Florida on Wednesday afternoon.
The flip from Lyle preceded Miami losing four-star RB Kevin Riley to Alabama on Wednesday. Miami had only five de-commitments in the 2024 class per 247 Sports. One of the 2024 Miami de-commitments was Blount. The Blount flip capped off a great Early Signing Period for the Miami football program.
Blount had one of the most mercurial recruitments in the 2024 class. After visiting Miami in September, Blount committed to the Hurricanes. Just over a month later, Blount took his official visit to Florida State. Blount reclassified to 2024 from 2025 and committed to FSU on October 22. That commitment stood through Wednesday.
The momentum for Miami signing Blount began building last week. Four 247Sports crystal balls flipped from FSU to Miami for Blount on December 14. Blount made it official with Miami signing a National Letter of Intent on Wednesday. Mario Cristobal and his staff have proven the ability to be closers with the third-ranked 2024 class.
