Raheem Mostert breaks Miami Dolphins’ single-season TD record

Former Purdue football running back Raheem Mostert made history on Sunday with the Miami Dolphins.

Mostert broke the Miami franchise’s all-time single-season record for touchdowns from scrimmage. The historic touchdown came against the Jets on Sunday, his second of two first-half rushing scores at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida. Mostert’s 20 touchdowns also leads the entire NFL for the season.

The 31-year-old is one of the oldest running backs in the league, yet has been one of the most effective this season. Entering Sunday’s game, Mostert ranks second in the NFL in rushing yards (924) while averaging 5.0 yards per carry.

The former track star played for the Boilermakers from 2011-14, rushing for 759 career yards and six touchdowns. Mostert has turned in a solid NFL career after going undrafted and bouncing around multiple teams early in his career (although he excelled in track more than football at Purdue).

Mostert won the Big Ten championship in the 60- and 200-meter dash at the indoor conference championship in 2014, as well as the Big Ten title in the 100- and 200-meter dash at the outdoor conference championship.
