Porter Airlines Lands Its Embraer E195-E2 In 5th Florida Destination: Miami

Porter Airlines continues expanding its US route network with the inauguration of flights to Miami, Florida. The Canadian carrier will operate the route daily from its hub in Toronto, allowing passengers from the US to connect to other destinations within its domestic network.
Since the beginning of November, Porter has been focused on growth in the Sunshine State. Miami becomes the carrier’s fifth new Florida destination after Tampa, Fort Myers, Orlando, and Fort Lauderdale.
Flight details
Porter commenced the service on Tuesday as PD545, operated by an Embraer E195-E2. According to Flightradar24.com, the flight departed Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) at 15:36 and was airborne by 15:53. The plane climbed to 36,000 feet for its cruise and arrived at Miami International Airport (MIA) at 19:11.

The return flight, PD542, is scheduled to depart on Wednesday at 08:40. Its scheduled flight time is three hours and 20 minutes at a cruising altitude of 38,000 feet and is projected to arrive at YYZ at around noon.

Kevin Jackson, Porter’s Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, commented on the new service.

The airline’s E195-E2s accommodate 132 passengers in an all-economy cabin with a 2-2 configuration. The plane is the second generation of the Embraer E-Jet family and the largest, designed to perform with lower CO2 emissions and noise pollution. Porter has a fleet of 53 aircraft, according to ch-aviation. Twenty-four of those planes are E195-E2s, and 29 are De Havilland Dash-8-400 turboprop regional aircraft.

Kurush Minocher, the Executive Director of Toronto Airport Authority’s Customer Experience and Airline Relations, said the new flights will give passengers greater travel choices.
“Miami is the eighth largest US market from Toronto Pearson this winter, which is not surprising given the high demand we are seeing for sun destinations. Porter’s new service on this route will not only provide greater choice to passengers and more opportunities to fly direct.”
Inflight amenities
The airline offers free inflight WiFi, allowing travelers to stay connected and stream entertainment on their devices. Additionally, a selection of premium snacks and complimentary alcoholic beverages served in glassware are available onboard.
Porter offers an all-inclusive fare called “PorterReserve,” which allows passengers to take advantage of fresh and healthy meals, seats with extra legroom, and premium cocktails. The amenities can also be purchased à la carte with the standard fare class “PorterClassic.”
