De La Vega Adds Retail To Central Development
Add a retail hub to Artemio De La Vega’s 4 million square-foot mixed-use project just north of downtown Dallas.
The retail space will take shape as part of the 27-acre Central development on U.S. Highway 75, complementing plans for office and residential components surrounding a large park, the Dallas Morning News reported. De La Vega Development is at the helm of the project, which is among the largest in the works in Big D.
Construction is underway for the first apartment tower on the south end of the development, with plans to start building four retail and restaurant buildings–dubbed the Central Park Pavilions–as part of the initial phase. In total, the Central is expected to cost an estimated $2.5 billion.
The Central Park Pavilions will open next year. The development, designed by Dallas architect GFF, has been in progress for over five years.
Adjacent to the retail addition, Dallas-based StreetLights Residential and Tokyo-based Mitsui Fudosan are jointly constructing the 19-story, 351-unit Oliver apartment tower, a $100 million project that’s expected to be completed in 2025.

The Central marks a significant transformation of the area, as older structures, including an 11-story office building, are being demolished to make way for the sprawling mixed-use hub. De La Vega acquired the development site in two purchases from Xerox Corp. and Trammell Crow Company, the outlet said.
Other large-scale developments on the way in Dallas include Hoque Global’s 270-acre mixed-use project next to the University of North Texas at Dallas campus, and Billingsley’s 1,000-acre Cypress Waters mixed-use project near North Lake.
