Police are investigating after a father fatally shot his son at a home in a southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood Friday afternoon, officials said.

The shooting happened at a home in the Kendall area near 84th Avenue and Southwest 107th Street.

Footage from the scene showed several police cars and an ambulance outside the home.

Miami-Dade Police officials said officers responded to calls of a shooting at the home around 2 p.m. and found the son, believed to be about 20 years old, suffering from a gunshot wound.

The son died from his injuries. His name hasn’t been released.

The father of the victim was detained at the scene and was being questioned by homicide detectives. Police said the father was the person who called 911.

Police said the preliminary investigation led detectives to believe it could be a domestic murder, but said they’re still investigating what led to the shooting.

No other information was immediately known.
