Corcoran Taps Marcia Van Zyl to Lead South Florida Offices
The Corcoran Group brought in Marcia van Zyl to lead and expand its Palm Beach and Martin county offices, The Real Deal has learned.
Van Zyl joined the brokerage as senior managing director for South Florida, according to a press release. Corcoran, led by President and CEO Pamela Liebman, nabbed van Zyl from her role at Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices Florida Realty, where she was the managing broker for Fort Lauderdale and Plantation offices, the release shows. She joins Kerry Warwick, Corcoran’s managing director for South Florida.
In her new role, van Zyl will oversee offices in Delray Beach, Palm Beach, and Palm Beach Gardens in Palm Beach County; and Hobe Sound in Martin County, the release says. Her work will focus on expanding business in the region and recruiting agents. Corcoran Senior Managing Director Lily Zanardi oversees the Miami-Dade County offices.
The brokerage also announced its regional vice president for Downtown Manhattan, Ryan Fitzpatrick, will also be overseeing the Palm Beaches. Van Zyl will report to him, a spokesperson confirmed.
The moves indicate Corcoran is focusing on South Florida, particularly Palm Beach County, in the wake of a significant pandemic boom time. Corcoran opened its office in Palm Beach Gardens in August of last year, and other brokerages soon followed suit. The Agency opened an office in Palm Beach Gardens in January, and Compass announced a Palm Beach Gardens expansion in April.
Following the cooling of the hot pandemic market, South Florida’s brokerages are heading north. Brokerage leaders say price growth and heightened deal activity in Palm Beach and Broward counties is a big draw to expand into these markets.
