Man, 21, arrested during ‘Operation Swingers & Bangers’ in Miami
MIAMI – A 21-year-old man has been arrested for the second time since July on accusations of facilitating illegal street takeovers in Miami-Dade County.
According to his latest arrest report, a City of Miami police officer was assigned to “Operation Swingers & Bangers” Saturday when she spotted Bryan Luciano Palacio, of Miami Beach, sitting in the front seat of a dark gray Corvette that had a tag cover obscuring the vehicle’s tag.
Police said Palacio was parked along Northwest 27th Avenue and 36th Street, “facilitating an illegal street takeover that was occurring with other vehicles spinning and drifting at the intersection.”
According to the report, the officer attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the Corvette but Palacio placed the sports car in reverse, striking the officer’s patrol vehicle as she was still inside.
The collision caused minor damage to the front bumper of the officer’s car, the report stated.
According to authorities, Palacio then fled from the scene as two officers pursued him onto the eastbound lanes of State Road 112, where they eventually lost sight of him.
Police later found an Instagram post showing the Corvette “spinning/drifting” at the intersection of Northwest Second Avenue and 67th Street, the report stated.
According to the report, the vehicle’s tag was visible in the video and they discovered that it was registered to Palacio, who was arrested by Miami-Dade police in July.
The officer whose vehicle Palacio allegedly rammed also identified him in a photo lineup.
Palacio was arrested Tuesday on charges of aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding police, driving with a suspended license, obstructing a highway and criminal mischief.
According to his arrest report, he invoked his right not to speak with detectives without an attorney present.
As of Wednesday afternoon, Palacio remained held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in lieu of a $24,500 bond.
