BC Falls to Miami in Three Sets


CORAL GABLES, Fla. Boston College battled the University of Miami on the road Sunday afternoon, before falling in three sets. Scores of the sets were 23-25, 16-25, and 19-25.

The Eagles battled point for point with the Hurricanes in the opening set, before ultimately falling, 25-23. BC tallied 12 kills and hit .219 in the first, while UMiami registered 15 kills and .229 swing percentage.

In the second BC led early, until a 10-0 run by the Hurricanes secured the set; 25-16.

Miami closed out the match in the third, using a strong finish to secure the victory. BC led 10-6 before the Hurricanes rallied to score 10 of the next 11 points. The Eagles could not dig out of that hold and dropped the frame, 19-25. 

Halle Schroder led the Eagles in kills, with nine. Alayna Crabtree had eight kills on the afternoon. Anna Murphy led the Eagles defense with 11 digs, while Schorder followed with eight. Setters Sophia Lambros and Jane Petrie led BC with 20 assist, Lambros tacked on 13. The Eagles led the way in blocks for the afternoon totaling nine with Julia Haggerty leading the match with seven. 

The Eagles move to 14-10 and 3-7 in ACC play and return to action on Friday Oct. 27 at home in the Margot Connell Rec Center against Georgia Tech. They finish the weekend of conference play at home on Sunday Oct. 29 against Clemson.
