An undefeated Miami Hurricanes team leads the ACC in true freshman snaps after one month

The Miami Hurricanes football program will provide plenty of opportunities to see the field on offense and defense.

Even with UM getting off to a hot 4-0 start to the season, the Hurricanes have prioritized playing members of a 2023 recruiting class that ranked No. 7 overall in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite.

After one month of college football, Miami leads the ACC in true freshman snaps on offense and defense.

Here is a rundown of the true freshman snaps in the conference, according to Pro Football Focus.

1. Miami: 887 true freshman snaps

2. Clemson: 768 true freshman snaps

3. Virginia: 545 true freshman snaps

4. Georgia Tech: 460 true freshman snaps

5. Virginia Tech: 336 true freshman snaps

6. Florida State: 344 true freshman snaps

7. NC State: 330 true freshman snaps

8. Pittsburgh: 211 true freshman snaps

9. Duke: 208 true freshman snaps

10 Syracuse: 194 true freshman snaps

11. Louisville: 163 true freshman snaps

12. Wake Forest: 88 true freshman snaps

13. North Carolina: 23 true freshman snaps

14. Boston College: 18 true freshman snaps

The ACC features six teams that are currently 4-0: Miami, Florida State, North Carolina, Duke, Louisville, and Syracuse.

The 887 true freshman snaps that Miami has accounted for on offense and defense is nearly as much as the five other 4-0 ACC teams combined at 932 true freshman snaps from that bunch.

Here is a look at the true freshman snaps on offense and defense from Miami though the first four games.

– OL Francis Mauigoa: 233 offensive snaps

– DL Rueben Bain: 119 defensive snaps

– TE Riley Williams: 104 offensive snaps

– CB Damari Brown: 70 defensive snaps

– DE Jayden Wayne: 68 defensive snaps

– QB Emory Williams: 47 offensive snaps

– WR Ray Ray Joseph: 46 offensive snaps

– RB Mark Fletcher: 46 offensive snaps

– DT Josh Horton: 32 defensive snaps

– OL Samson Okunlola: 30 offensive snaps

– RB Chris Johnson: 20 offensive snaps

– LB Raul Aguirre: 16 defensive snaps

– LB Bobby Washington: 14 defensive snaps

– LB Malik Bryant: 12 defensive snaps

– OL Tommy Kinsler: nine offensive snaps

– LB Marcellius Pulliam: eight defensive snaps

– WR Robby Washington: seven offensive snaps

– TE Jackson Carver: six offensive snaps

That’s 18 of the 24 true freshmen on offense or defense that have seen the field for the Miami Hurricanes. UM is also playing a true freshman punter in Dylan Joyce to bring that total to 19 of 25 true freshmen.

Amongst the ACC true freshmen on the offensive side of the ball, Mauigoa has played the second most snaps, only trailing Georgia Tech offensive lineman Ethan Mackenny, who has been a starting left tackle for the Yellow Jackets.

Bain has played the most true freshman snaps of any ACC player on the defensive side of the ball.

Mauigoa and Bain have combined for six starts as true freshmen.

Miami is now on a bye week to rest up, recover, and continue developing its young depth for the upcoming ACC slate of eight conference games in eight weeks.
