Miami fan who dresses in full uniform, pads honors his late brother
I had no idea about this story until Friday morning, and now I want to pass it on to you.
On Thursday, a broadcast of Miami’s 48-7 win over Bethune-Cookman focused on someone in the stands wearing a full Hurricanes uniform — helmet, jersey, pants, pads and gloves. The WHOLE thing. He could have been a player who just happened to be watching, but nope, he’s a fan.
The announcers admired his dedication, and that was the right move. Because people on Twitter (X) revealed the story behind his garb: His name is Shelton Douthett, and there’s a really, really good reason why he does this for EVERY Miami game.
That’s dedication 😅🙌 @CanesFootball pic.twitter.com/aIY0pyYFzD

His name is Shelton Douthett. When his brother was in the hospital with pneumonia he told Shelton it would be fun to dress in a full jersey and pads for a game when he got better. His brother died soon after. So he dresses in a full pads, in his brother’s memory, every game.

A beautiful way to honor his late brother. What a story.
