Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots: Game predictions, picks, odds

play

The Miami Dolphins (1-0) take an exhilarating season opening win north to play the New England Patriots (0-1) in a primetime Sunday matchup.

The two AFC East opponents face off at Gillette Stadium after Tyreek Hill had a monster game in Week 1 with 215 yards and two touchdowns. The Dolphins beat the Los Angeles Chargers with a score with two minutes left on the clock.

New England lost its third straight season opener last week, falling to the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles. Third-year quarterback Mac Jones had three touchdowns and an interception in the loss.

The teams split their matchups last season. The Dolphins loss was when they were playing without quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who missed four games due to the NFL’s concussion protocol.

Will Tagovailoa be able to keep his team’s momentum going? Or will Bill Belichick find a way to get the win?

Lorenzo Reyes: Dolphins 27, Patriots 21

Miami’s offense, as long as Tua Tagovailoa is balling out like that, has the potential to be the most prolific in the NFL. Tyreek Hill can score on any given play. The Dolphins’ defense is a work in progress but New England’s offense struggled with turnovers and Mac Jones was inaccurate on a few throws. Also, Tagovailoa is 4-0 in his career against Bill Belichick and the Patriots.

Tyler Dragon: Dolphins 31, Patriots 20

Tyreek Hill just plays at a different speed than everybody else. That was highlighted after he torched the Chargers for 215 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Bill Belichick’s gameplan will try to take Hill away but the plan won’t be executed well. The Dolphins have too much speed for New England.

Victoria Hernandez: Dolphins 30, Patriots 23

The Dolphins have a huge wave of momentum after a thrilling road win to open the season. The Patriots continue to grow and learn, but Bill Belichick still does not have Tom Brady.

Jordan Mendoza: Dolphins 30, Patriots 23

We got swiftly reminded how dangerous the Miami offense is when Tua Tagovailoa is healthy. Tyreek Hill remains out of this world, and the receivers prove to be too much for the Patriots’ stout defense.
