Inter Miami CF Signs Cameron Johnson and Lucas Meek on Short-Term Agreements From Inter Miami CF II
Inter Miami CF announced today that it has signed forwards Cameron Johnson and Lucas Meek on short-term agreements from the Club’s MLS NEXT Pro team Inter Miami CF II. Johnson and Meek will be available for tomorrow’s MLS match against Sporting Kansas City at 7:30 p.m. ET at DRV PNK Stadium.
This will be the first time that both players have been signed on short-term agreements by the Club’s First Team for a 2023 MLS regular season fixture.
Johnson, 19, joined Inter Miami II earlier this year in April from Argentine side Club Atlético Lanús. He has gone on to make 12 appearances in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro regular season, scoring twice in the process.
At the international level, the attacker has previously represented both Costa Rica and the United States at youth level. Most recently, Johnson represented Costa Rica’s U-20 national team at the 2023 Maurice Revello Tournament in France.
Meek, meanwhile, was initially selected by Inter Miami in the 2022 MLS SuperDraft, and joined Inter Miami II ahead of the 2023 season. Meek starred for the University of Washington at the collegiate level; over five seasons for the Huskies, the 24-year-old forward made 68 appearances and tallied 26 goals and 21 assists.
Meek has made 22 MLS NEXT Pro appearances for Inter Miami II in 2023, 16 as a starter, registering a team-leading four goals and an assist.
Per MLS rules, the short-term agreements allow clubs to sign players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for MLS, U.S. Open Cup, Concacaf Champions League, Canadian Championship and exhibition matches.
