Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill Playfully Closes Book on Inquiry
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. — Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was back at practice Monday after missing two days last week to attend to a personal matter.
That absence corresponded with the NFL’s announcement that he would not face punishment for his involvement in a physical altercation at a Miami-Dade marina in June.
On Monday, Hill tried to convince the assembled media here that the two were related in the most absurd way possible.
“I kind of wasn’t thinking about it, but, you know, now I’m glad everything’s behind me,” Hill said.
“It took two days of me mowing the commissioner’s lawn,” he continued. “That’s why I was excused. I’m joking by the way.”
Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill Avoids NFL Punishment
It’s good that Hill added that caveat because the last time he said something laughably absurd — that he’s become one of the league’s best players despite watching zero film — a lot of people believed him.
So to be clear, no, Hill did not skate punishment because he moonlighted as a landscaper for Roger Goodell.

He wasn’t punished because the NFL didn’t have sufficient evidence to be convinced that Hill violated the league’s personal conduct policy.
So Hill will be in the lineup Sunday when the Dolphins open the season on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers.

But that doesn’t mean his behavior was appropriate.
Hill did make contact with the back of a marina worker’s neck on Father’s Day, surveillance video showed, although that footage suggests the incident might have been overblown.
Nonetheless, Hill insists he’s learned from it.
“I’m just glad all of that is behind me, man,” Hill said. “Just moving forward, I just gotta make better decisions, obviously, you know, not only for myself, but for this team. For my family, my kids. Just be smart and be a pro and just be grateful for this opportunity.
“Because I feel like sometimes, you know, we lose sight, you know, of just who we are and, and that’s not the person that my grandparents raised me to be, they raised me to be a father, a son, a teammate, a citizen, you know, I gotta, I gotta strive to be better.”
