MG Developers Taps Capital Markets Director
It’s the slow season for South Florida real estate, but firms are still expanding and hiring across the region.
Alirio Torrealba’s MG Developer made its second major personnel announcement of the summer. The Coral Gables-based developer hired Leonard Chinchay as its director of capital markets, and Jose Mata as a project manager, according to a press release.
Chinchay was previously CEO of his own firm, Assets Real Estate Group, according to the company’s website. He also worked in business development at Key International in Miami for two years, his LinkedIn shows. In his role at MG Developer, Chinchay will head the firm’s funding strategies across markets, the release says.
Mata joins MG Developer from his last role in construction oversight at Lennar Corporation, according to the release. He will be involved in a number of MG Developer’s current construction projects, the release says.
The firm secured a $67.5 million construction loan for its Village at Coral Gables 48-unit residential project last month. Also last month, Torrealba promoted his son, Diego Torrealba, who recently graduated from Boston University, to senior vice president of real estate development.
Boston-based Shawmut Design and Construction hired Julio Cruz as a South Florida project executive, according to a press release. Cruz will focus on large-scale and new sector projects as part of the firm’s 10-year strategy to expand in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties.
Another out-of-state firm expanding in South Florida, San Diego-based commercial mortgage firm BWE, is opening an office in the region, according to a press release. BWE tapped Dan Rosenberg as executive vice president, and hired a new senior vice president, Maxx Carney, to head the new office, the release shows.
Rosenberg had been with the firm’s Chicago office since 2020, his LinkedIn shows. Carney joins BWE from his role as a senior director with JLL in Miami, where he worked for nearly a decade, according to his LinkedIn.
