Miami flips 2024 blue-chip edge rusher Elias Rudolph from Michigan’s class: What’s next?

The Miami Hurricanes picked up a 2024 commitment from another blue-chip edge rusher on Saturday, flipping former Michigan pledge Elias Rudolph. Here’s what you need to know:

Rudolph, ranked No. 292 overall and the No. 21 edge in the 247Sports Composite, had been committed to the Wolverines since July 3. He took official visits to Pittsburgh, Michigan and Miami in June.

Rudolph played at Cincinnati (Ohio) Taft as a sophomore and junior and transferred to Deerfield Beach High before returning to his old high school this summer. He took a trip to Coral Gables with his family in late July and attended Miami’s barbeque.

Rudolph, a two-time first-team All-Ohio selection and the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference Co-Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 according to the Cincinnati Enquirer, tallied 87 tackles and 17.5 sacks as a junior.

Mario Cristobal’s primary goal this cycle was to load up on elite defensive linemen and by flipping Rudolph from Michigan the Hurricanes are on their way. He’s the second blue-chip edge rusher to commit to Miami’s 2024 class, joining Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood Academy’s Marquise Lightfoot.
