Thoughts on the rain delay: I never had a rain delay; in the UK, we played through lighting, snow, rain, so it’s all new for us. The players have to keep warm, be focussed, patient. But we have a great team and staff.

Do you prefer it like this? I always liked a wet surface, it makes it quicker and makes you sharper. It’s the perfect way to play.

How have you experienced the Messi effect? It’s been so much more than what I expected. We always believed in signings like Leo, Sergio, Jordi would impact the league and the USA. There’s only a few times you can change the face of a sport, we have something here. People are talking about MLS all across the world. Pink shirts are everywhere we know we have done something special: it’s so important for the sport.
