Henry Bott: Heading Swire’s Brickell Key and Miami City Centre projects

In January, Henry Bott, who has been at Swire Properties for over 13 years representing the company’s Asian investments, was named president of the American arm.

The company was established in Hong Kong in 1972 and it develops and manages top tier commercial, retail, hospitality, and residential properties. Swire Properties came to Florida in 1976, invested in Tampa, and in 1978, it acquired 33.6 acres on what would be known today as Brickell Key. That was the beginning of decades of development and investment in the heart of Miami.

Today, Swire Properties is dedicated to its main developments in Miami: Brickell City Centre – which opened in 2016 – and its 1,000-foot-tall One Brickell City Center Class A office tower, designed by Arquitaectonica and developed in partnership with The Related Companies, which would be the largest floor plate office building the City of Miami as ever approved, and One Island Drive on Brickell Key. Both sites, located within 10-minute walking distance, put Swire as one of the top developers in the city.

Mr. Bott replaced Kieran Bowers who was leaving Swire Properties. He worked previously for Swire’s operations first in London, then in Hong Kong, Beijing, and then in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where he oversaw $2 billion of real estate investment, including a 6-million-square-foot mixed-use development comprising luxury condominiums, hotel, retail and office, according to a press release.
He is now excited to be in Miami, he said.

Mr. Bott spoke with Miami Today reporter Monica Correa.
