Inter Miami and Lionel Messi will play Florida rival Orlando City in the next round of the Leagues Cup on Wednesday night.
The game will be held at Miami’s DRV PNK Stadium on August 2.
It comes after Orlando beat Santos Laguna 3-2 on Saturday night in the Leagues Cup, thanks to a 90th minute winner from Wilder Cartagena.
Inter Miami won both games in its Leagues Cup group, with Messi demonstrating exactly why there is so much excitement surrounding his arrival.
In the first game, against Cruz Azul, Messi made his first Miami appearance as a substitute and scored a 90th minute winner with an outstanding free kick.
Then, on Tuesday against Atlanta, he scored twice in the first 22 minutes to lead Miami to an emphatic 4-0 victory.
The cup competition has provide some welcome positive news for Miami who until Messi arrived, have endured a miserable Major League Soccer season.
The team is last in the Eastern Conference and 12 points adrift of the playoffs. It has gone 11 games without a victory in MLS.
Miami played Orlando on May 20 and was beaten 3-1. Orlando sit fifth in the Eastern Conference with 37 points from 23 games.
