Paul Pierce thinks a Damian Lillard-led Miami Heat squad wouldn’t escape the first round
Not everyone is as high on the idea of bringing disgruntled Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard onto the Miami Heat’s roster for next season as Pat Riley seems to be. In fact, Hall of Fame Boston Celtics forward Paul Pierce believes that if Lillard joins the Heat for the 2023-24 season, they won’t make it out of the first round of the 2024 NBA playoffs.
Lillard’s pairing with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo is about as sexy as it gets in terms of big names, but it was the Heat’s depth that played a crucial role in their previous successes in recent years — depth that would be traded away to land the Blazers guard.
