Tornado, a name that certainly sparks curiosity, turned out to be quite the character. On Instagram, Anna Marie Austin is also known as “Tornado Mom,” or simply “Tornado” for short, a name that her daughter coined due to her high energy and remarkable organizational skills.

But this vivacious personality is more than just an online persona; she’s the proud mother of none other than Dani Austin, the mastermind behind the sensational beauty brand, Divi. Together, this dynamic mother-daughter duo made quite the splash at Miami Swim Week with SI Swimsuit, where Tornado took on the role of an official SI Swimsuit correspondent.

When Dani Austin revealed to her mom the thrilling news about attending Miami Swim Week, Anna Marie’s reaction was candid, joking that she “[didn’t] know if [it was] a dream or a nightmare.” It’s understandable; the event surely held a whirlwind of excitement and nerves.

One highlight of Tornado’s appearance was an unforgettable photoshoot with none other than the four Nader sisters, including the radiant 2023 cover model, Brooks Nader. Although Anna Marie playfully confessed she wished for more preparation time, she undoubtedly slayed the photo shoot with her incredible presence.

Describing the experience, she shared, “They made it fun for me because they were just very encouraging and built me up. It was so much fun.”

Anna Marie was profoundly struck by the warmth and kindness of everyone she encountered over the weekend.

“They were not only beautiful, but they were so kind, so generous,” she said. “I’m just so amazed that a lot of these young women are … they’re entrepreneurs, they’re moms and you know … I was just really impressed.”

Reflecting on the runway show and the brand’s evolution over the years, Anna Marie highlighted the importance of body diversity on the catwalk.

“All shapes, young, old … And not to say it’s not sexy, but it’s sexy in so many different ways, which I love … I think it’s more relatable, and still beautiful. And you can be young, you can be old, you can be a size two or a size 16 and still look amazing and be confident in a swimsuit.”

Amidst all the glamour and excitement, her most cherished moment was witnessing her daughter, Dani, walk the red carpet. Overwhelmed with pride, she exclaimed, “To see Dani walk on the red carpet. I’m just so in awe of my daughter, uh, you know, what she’s done and what she’s accomplished with Divvy.”

It’s heartwarming to see a mother’s genuine admiration and support for her daughter’s success—and we love seeing the weekend of beauty, confidence, and female empowerment through Anna Marie’s eyes.
