Miami football beats out Georgia, Ohio State, Florida State for 2024 5-star
Another major recruiting win came Miami football’s way in 5-star commit Joshisa Trader, who picked the Hurricanes over three prominent schools.
The Miami Hurricanes beat out college football titans in Ohio State and Georgia, along with Florida State, as five-star wide receiver Joshisa Trader committed to the Hurricanes and Mario Cristobal Thursday.
The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Trader became the Hurricanes’ 18th commitment in the 2024 class, as he spoke highly of the program in an exclusive interview with 247Sports.
“They’re like family,” Trader said; also speaking highly of Cristobal. “He’s a passionate coach,” Trader said. “He doing good with his staff right now.”
Trader attends Chaminade-Madonna Prep and is the fifth-best player in the state of Florida and No. 25 amongst his age group. A MaxPreps junior All-American second-team selection and 1M state champion, Trader has impressed at the position with seven touchdowns and 473 receiving yards last season.
Trader said the atmosphere and team bonding is what drew him to Coral Gables, and he looks forward to carrying on the Hurricane legacy.
“I feel like they got a good group coming up right now,” Trader said. “They’ve been doing a good job recruiting me and I can’t wait to see what they do this season.”
The Hurricanes and Cristobal look to remain in the thick of the ACC title race, but Clemson and North Carolina are still out there as the two top contenders to punch their ticket to the championship game again in December.
Miami’s season is less than 50 days away
Like most college football teams, the Hurricanes have a little over a month to prepare for the 2023 season. Miami has a demanding schedule and will face Texas A&M as the lone Power Five team in nonconference play before the gauntlet of the ACC begins in early October.
The Hurricanes open their home schedule against Miami (OH) on Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. ET.
