Inter Miami are hoping to bring in another ex-teammate of Lionel Messi, with the club reportedly preparing a bid for Jordi Alba.

The Argentine star, who revealed earlier this month that he’d be moving to MLS, will already have a familiar face at his next stop in Sergio Busquets after Miami announced the latter’s arrival on Friday.

And Alba could soon be joining his ex-teammates in South Beach, with Marca reporting that initial contact has already been made with the left-back.

The 34-year-old announced that he would be leaving Barcelona after 11 seasons there, and is reportedly considering offers from Saudi Arabia, La Liga and elsewhere in Europe as well.

While Alba saw his role reduced at Barcelona this season, he remains a significant player for his country as he started Spain’s Nations League Final win vs. Croatia, playing 120 minutes as his side eventually won on penalties last Sunday.

According to Marca, Inter Miami intend to make an offer for Alba in the coming days.

Miami announced the signing of Busquets with a video on Friday, including glowing quotes from Luka Modric, Xavi and Messi about the player.

The holding midfielder, 34, spent 15 seasons with Barcelona before deciding to join Messi in MLS.

While the club has yet to finalize the signing of Messi, they wished their incoming star a happy 36th birthday on Saturday – possibly revealing a hint about his future shirt number as well.

They posted a graphic on social media reading ‘Feliz Complio’ – Spanish for ‘happy birthday’ with the number ’10’ instead of ‘io’.

Messi’s highly-anticipated debut could come on July 21 in the Leagues Cup vs. Mexican team Cruz Azul, with the club confirming that date as their target.

Before he arrives, though, Miami will want to improve their position in the table, as a haul of just 15 points in 17 games has them last in the Eastern Conference.

They’ll face the Philadelphia Union on Saturday.
