Damage reported after severe storm system, warning of tornadoes rips through Miami Valley – WHIO TV 7 and WHIO Radio

MIAMI VALLEY — Severe storms hit the Miami Valley Sunday, causing trees and powerlines to be down across the region.

Around 7:20 p.m. the National Weather Service shared a photo of Vandalia near the Dayton International Airport of what they said was a tornado.

Around 7:30 p.m. a iWintess7 viewer in Dayton sent pictures of a tree in the roadway and onto a car.

Trees were also reported down across Montgomery County in areas like Orchard Hill Drive, Heincke Road, and Frederick Pike, according to the Montgomery County dispatch page.

Around 7:35 p.m. north of Dayton, Champaign County was also hit by severe weather with several trees down in Christiansburg near State Route 55, according to the National Weather Service.

At its peak, nearly 5,000 people in the Miami Valley were without power with the majority of outages being in Montgomery County in the Vandalia area.
