- After being chucked out, he attacked other members of the public and then when cops arrived he kept sprinting around despite being tasered several times
This is the wild moment a naked man attacked Miami gym-goers after attempting to use the exercise equipment and then rampaged through the street.
The unidentified assailant stormed into the UFC Gym in the Midtown section of the city around 9pm Tuesday. Footage shows him attempting to use the machines before stripping off and starting brawls with other gym members.
He was manhandled off the premises by staff where he launched further attacks on people out in the road. The footage even shows him harassing a wheelchair-bound man before he is clobbered over the back of the head with a bag by another citizen.
Cops arrived and the footage shows him being tasered multiple times in the middle of fast-moving traffic at Northeast 36th Street near the Julia Tuttle Causeway.
A member of staff at the gym told DailyMail.com that he had ‘no idea’ why the naked man launched the assault. ‘The cops don’t know either, but he was definitely on something,’ said the man who asked not to be named.
Police said they responded to a ‘crisis intervention call’, indicating the man was having a mental episode.
The video, first posted by ONLYinDADE, says that the attacker was trying to get into his car when the cops showed up.
‘Cops finally show up and he tries to get in his car. Gets tased twice but doesn’t even flinch,’ the caption reads.
‘Then he takes off with taser still in him … Finally caught him after a very slow chase.’
The footage shows the naked man darting between traffic as a wire from a taser gun still appears to be attached to his back.
Eventually he is cuffed and pinned down by the police who took him for a mental health evaluation.
A Miami Police Department report said: ‘Call came in at 9.20 pm of a naked male trying to assault people on the street in the area of NE 36th St / Biscayne Blvd.
‘The suspect assaulted several persons. We tasered him several times before Baker Acting him. Charges are pending the outcome of the evaluation.’
The Florida Mental Health Act, commonly referred to as the Baker Act, focuses on crisis services for individuals with mental illness, much like an emergency department is for individuals experiencing a medical emergency.
It allows cops to take a suspect to a receiving facility for involuntary examination.
After the examination is carried out, charges may or not be pressed against the individual.
