MATCH RECAP: Inter Miami CF II Falls on the Road Against Crown Legacy FC
MATTHEWS, NC. (April 14, 2023) – Inter Miami CF II suffered a 3-0 loss to Crown Legacy FC on Friday evening at Mecklenburg County Sportsplex in Matthews, NC.
The starting XI for head coach Federico Higuain’s squad featured Cole Jensen in goal; Ezequiel Abadia-Reda, Joseph Convers, Tyler Hall, and Israel Boatwright in defense; Abel Caputo, captain Benjamin Cremaschi and Lawson Sunderland in the midfield; and Lucas Meek, Edison Azcona and Shanyder Borgelin in the attack.
Despite an impressive outing featuring seven saves by 2023 MLS SuperDraft selection goalkeeper Jensen in his Club debut, Crown Legacy was able to keep the three points at home. Inter Miami II kept its goal intact in the first 45 minutes but a brace from attacker David Poreba, who scored in the 52nd and the 89th minute, and an own goal in the 64th minute, resulted in a victory for the hosts.
The evening marked Borgelin’s first start of the season with Inter Miami II, after an impressive team high 14-goal 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season. Earlier this year, the Haitian American scored in his First Team debut in the 2-0 win over CF Montréal on the season opener. Additionally, First Team youngsters Azcona, Cremaschi and Jensen continued registering minutes as part of their development during the First Team’s bye week.
The team will return to the DRV PNK Stadium next weekend after back-to-back away matches, when Inter Miami II will face Huntsville City FC on Sunday, April 23 at 7 p.m. ET.
