Here are the top stories today in Miami:
- A Miami firefighter was injured while battling a fire in an efficiency near Northwest 59th Terrace and Fifth Avenue in South Florida. The firefighter suffered minor burns to the ears, neck and wrists and was sent to the hospital, according to Miami Fire Rescue. No other injuried were reported. (WSVN)
- The Miami Dolphins are not expected to pursue Tom Brady in free agency, if he returns to the NFL, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The speculation came from Tom Brady’s family connections to South Florida, including Brady’s ex-wife Gisele Bundchen, and the strong offense on the Dolphins. (NBC Miami, ESPN)
- Miami Parking Authority has approved a mixed-use redevelopment of the College Station Garage, according to a press release. The redevelopment would include two residential towers and workforce housing as well as a parking garage. A total of 600 apartments are proposed for the redevelopment. (The Next Miami)
- Rescue crews responded to a three-alarm apartment fire on Saturday morning in Miami Gardens. No one was reported injured in the incident. The incident happened near the 39500 block of Northwest 177th Street, according to officials. The cause of the fire is under investigation. (WPLG Local 10)
- The 2nd Annual Fashions and Florals Spring Luncheon is planning for Mar. 10 at the Biltmore Hotel. The annual event is hosted by the Coral Gables Garden Club and this year will feature a fashion show by Johnny Was. Proceeds will support the club and the programs it runs. (Miami’s Community News)
