Three takeaways from No. 17 Miami’s win vs. Syracuse

With Syracuse’s 7-foot center Jesse Edwards powering his way to a 25-point, 11-rebound performance, the Hurricanes’ frontcourt of Norchad Omier and Jordan Miller showed toughness of their own and both finished with productive games imperative in the victory.

Even after picking up two fouls in the first half, Omier stayed on the court for 34 minutes and scored 13 of his 16-points in the second half. He also finished with a season-high 16 rebounds. Even with the tough matchup with Edwards and playing heavy minutes, Omier calmly sank two free throws with 10 seconds left to stretch the lead from two to four, essentially sealing the win.

Miller too showed his toughness, battling his way inside the stingy, lengthy Orange defense and put together a 13-point, 7-rebound and 7-assist game. The seven assists are a career-high as he did a good job flashing to the high post of the 2-3 zone and finding teammates without getting himself into trouble as he had just one turnover.

The entire team, which won the rebounding battle 40-36, showed their resiliency in a game where they recovered from a double-digit deficit to pull out a win as they continue to build a strong resume this season as one of the best teams in the ACC.
