The Miami City Ballet has formed a partnership with Baptist Health South Florida to serve as the official healthcare provider for over 50 dancers.
Performing a repertoire of more than 130 works, Miami City Ballet dancers now have access to medical support from Baptist Health throughout the season. The dancers will also provide fans with a unique behind-the-scenes look at their exercise regimen and share their best tips for a healthy lifestyle.
At every venue performance, a dancer will take over Miami City Ballet’s Instagram and give the behind-the-scenes look. The ballet’s next major production is “Modern Masters” starting Feb. 10 at the Adrienne Arsht Center in downtown Miami.
“The availability to have doctors on-site for each performance and on-call for our dancers ensures that all dancers can be tended to immediately and feel their best to perform throughout the season,” said Alejandro Piris Nino, Miami City Ballet’s director of artistic health.
Baptist Health is the largest healthcare organization in the region, with 12 hospitals, more than 26,000 employees, 4,000 physicians and more than 100 outpatient centers, urgent care facilities and physician practices spanning South Florida.
“Baptist Health is excited to extend our partnerships into the arts and work with Miami City Ballet to provide world-class medical services for their world-class dancers to ensure performance at the highest level,” said Baptist Health Doctors Hospital and Baptist Health Orthopedic Institute CEO Javier Hernandez-Lichtl. “Our physicians are thrilled about this partnership and look forward to working with these athletes.”
