How Patriots loss to Bengals affects Dolphins’ playoff odds

While the Miami Dolphins have to wait until Sunday to play their Week 16 matchup, where they’ll host the Green Bay Packers, most of the NFL got their games out of the way on Saturday.

That includes the New England Patriots, who were defeated by the Cincinnati Bengals, 22-18. New England entered the weekend just one game behind the Dolphins with a chance to tie their record and make things a bit more uncomfortable, as Miami looks to make the postseason for the first time since 2016.

Prior to the loss, the Dolphins had a 78% chance of playing in the playoffs, according to FiveThirtyEight. However, the result has boosted their chances up to 82%, and if they win against the Packers on Christmas Day, they’ll shoot up to 92%.
