Miami Dolphins sign 2 to practice squad
MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – The Miami Dolphins today announced they have signed offensive lineman Lester Cotton to the practice squad and released offensive lineman Lamont Gaillard from the practice squad.
Cotton has played in 14 career games with one start, all for the Raiders. He’s played in 10 games with one start for Las Vegas this season before he was waived on Dec. 15, 2022. Cotton also had multiple stints on the Raiders’ practice squad. He originally entered the NFL as an undrafted college free agent with Oakland on May 3, 2019. He played collegiately at Alabama where he was a regular starter for the 2017 national championship team alongside current Dolphins teammates Tua Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle.
Gaillard signed with Miami’s practice squad on Nov. 2, 2022. He was a sixth-round draft pick (179th overall) by Arizona in the 2019 NFL Draft and spent the 2019 season on Arizona’s active roster but did not appear in a game. He then played in 13 games with two starts for the Cardinals in 2020. Most recently, Gaillard spent most of the 2021 season on Cincinnati’s practice squad and was with the Bengals during the 2022 training camp. He played collegiately at Georgia, where he was a first-team All-SEC selection in 2018.
