Frost Science hunts nationally for CEO

The Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science is set to immediately start searching for its new CEO and president after Frank Steslow announced he will step down in the first quarter of 2023.

The Frost Science Board of Trustees plans to launch a national search, which will be led by the museum’s Board Executive Committee. Mr. Steslow will remain active as CEO throughout the search to ensure a smooth transition.

The board of trustees is committed to filling the role as soon as possible. However, the search is expected to last several months as it’s important to find the right candidate to lead Frost Science, said Cesar L. Alvarez, Frost Science’s chairman and senior chairman of Greenberg Traurig.

“On behalf of the Frost Science Board of Trustees, I would like to recognize Frank’s vision, energy and leadership throughout his tenure,” he said. “His dedication and experience are unparalleled, and we are confident that his successor will build upon the strong foundation that he has built.”

The search committee is in the process of building a list of qualifications for the ideal candidate. The members are seeking an experienced professional with business acumen and a leadership background in a large multifaceted organization.

Mr. Steslow first joined the museum in 2007 as chief operating officer. In 2016, he was named CEO and president. He oversaw the construction and development of the new Frost Science campus, which opened in May 2017 at 1101 Biscayne Blvd. in downtown Miami.

Since opening, the museum has welcomed over 3.1 million visitors and has become one of South Florida’s most popular cultural organizations, enjoying record attendance levels and becoming a staple for residents and tourists alike.

“Frost Science is in a very strong position and has matured into a premier cultural and educational resource for South Florida. Leading this organization has been an extraordinary honor,” Mr. Steslow said. “My career has been focused on building great organizations and it feels like the right time for me personally. I have every confidence that Frost Science is on a path to a strong future.”
