Miami Beach Cultural Anchors Awarded Knight Foundation Grants
(Miami Beach, FL) Dec 2, 2022 –
Eight cultural partners of the City of Miami Beach have been selected by the James L. Knight Foundation to receive art grants. The announcement coincides with Art Week Miami Beach 2022.
“This incredible investment helps solidify our status as a global arts and culture destination,” expressed Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber. “The generous grants will help to dramatically boost these cultural, community amenities.”
The following Miami Beach cultural organizations and resident companies were selected by the James L. Knight Foundation to receive a combined total of nearly $12 million:
- The Bass Museum — $1.2 million.
- Miami City Ballet — $2 million.
- Miami New Drama — $1 million.
- New World Symphony — $1 million.
- O, Miami — $2.5 million.
- Oolite Arts — $1.25 million.
- The Wolfsonian-Florida International University — $2 million.
- Nu Deco Ensemble — $1 million.
“Art and culture connect people to place and to each other,” Knight Foundation president Alberto Ibargüen said. “We have supported local artists and institutions who have built a Miami where art thrives.”
