Boats, traps for stone crabs survive hurricane, but business infrastructure takes a blow
allas Ryan, the manager of Island Crab Company in St. James City said most of the company’s 4,000 stone crab traps remained intact after Hurricane Ian tore through Southwest Florida. These new Baptist Medical Center robots have ‘moxie’ and more to free up staff
Moxi, a delivery robot with heart-shaped eyes, one multifunctional arm and a cute little voice, has become a familiar sight at Baptist Medical Center. Baptist is trying to turn the robot into a valued member of the hospital, able to perform a variety of tasks that free up human staffers to better take care of their patients. Miami Film Festival Gems could be Tower’s swansong
While this year’s Gems Festival will take place at the historic Tower Theater in Little Havana, Miami Dade College is currently searching for alternatives after 20 years of operating the art cinema. “Down in our neighborhood, we never had a real homemade ice cream shop,” said Max Chillura. So, he and his siblings agreed that when they grew up, they’d open one.

What the generational shift of Florida voters means for the future
The rise of younger generations makes this more urgent for both candidates and political parties. (President) Obama’s historic candidacy and effective campaign turned out young voters, while the coronavirus and message targeting failures found his vice president, Joe Biden, struggling to do so 12 years later when younger registrants were a larger share of the electorate. The growing diversity among the younger, rising generations makes effective microtargeting much more difficult, but in a constantly changing state, it is also more imperative.
