Was Tua Tagovailoa’s life at risk? Miami Dolphins coach defends himself

Controversy has sparked in the NFL as Tua Tagovailoa was taken to the hospital after being brought down and hitting his head on the turf during the game between the Miami Dolphins and Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday night.

Back on Sunday, Tagovailoa had returned to the game against the Buffalo Bills after picking up an injury in the first half.

Just before the break, he was brought to the ground by Matt Milano and, after standing up, he held his head and fell to the ground again.

Head coach Mike McDaniel said that this happened because he suffered a back injury and Tagovailoa featured in the second half of that win and then also started on Thursday.

Did the Miami Dolphins lie about Tua Tagovailoa’s injury?

A head injury would have forced him to enter concussion protocols that would have risked his participation in the game with the Bengals, which is why some have speculated that the Dolphins weren’t being fully sincere about the type of injury.

However, McDaniel insisted after Thursday’s duel that his player didn’t suffer from a head injury on Sunday.

“I asked Mike McDaniel if he can express, with 100 percent certainty, that Tua Tagovailoa did not suffer a concussion or other head injury on Sunday against Buffalo, he said yes,” Miami Dolphins beat reporter David Furones wrote on Twitter.

Doctors believe Tua Tagovialoa’s life was at risk

Meanwhile, neuropathologist Bennet Omalu told TMZ that based on the clips he watched from Sunday’s game, Tagovialoa looked as though he had suffered a concussion.

“Your life should be worth more to you than any amount of money,” Omalu told TMZ.

“Your life is worth more than 10bn dollars, because you can’t replace your life. You have only one life.”

Meanwhile, Chris Nowinski, the CEO of Concussion Legacy Foundation, also took to social media to express his doubts.

“This is a disaster, pray for Tua,” he said.

“Fire the medical staffs and coaches.

“I predicted this and I hate that I am right. Two concussions in five days can kill someone. This can end careers. How are we so stupid in 2022.”
