Miami involved for multiple elite prospects in the Class of 2024

The 2023 cycle isn’t close to being over with over four months until the Early Signing Period in December, but with 17 commits on board it is worth beginning to get to know the Class of 2024.

On Wednesday, the 247Sports Rankings Council reshuffled the Top247 for the rising junior class and it’s littered with early Miami targets.

The lone commit featured is Fort Lauderdale Dillard defensive back Antione Jackson, who rose 17 spots from No. 140 to No. 123 overall in the class. He flipped from his original Georgia pledge last month after multiple unofficial visits to Coral Gables.

Miami is also involved with a number of players currently in five-star territory, though not many will actually have that many next to their name from 247Sports on Wednesday.

Bradenton IMG Academy cornerbacks Desmond Ricks (No. 2 overall) and Ellis Robinson IV (No. 4 overall) have both been on Miami’s campus and the Hurricanes are actively recruiting each of them.

The same goes for Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna duo of wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (No. 7 overall) and athlete Joshisa Trader (No. 11 overall). Those are two names on the top of the wishlist in South Florida next cycle. The same goes for Miami Columbus EDGE TJ Capers (No. 23 overall).

Two of the Hurricanes’ top quarterback targets in Charlotte (NC) Providence Day School’s Jadyn Davis (No. 8 overall) and Carlsbad (Cali.)’s Julian Sayin (No.13 overall) each fall firmly inside five-star territory as well.

So do St. Louis (Mo.) University wide receiver Ryan Wingo (No. 14 overall), Bradenton IMG Academy running back Jerrick Gibson (No. 17 overall), and Bradenton IMG Academy EDGE Ernest Willor (No. 32 overall). Each were at the Hurricanes cookout/pool party at the end of July.

Three more EDGE prospects in five-star range have been on Miami’s campus since Mario Cristobal arrived and they are Bradenton IMG Academy’s Jonathan Echols (Tennessee commit, No. 10 overall) Loganville (Ga.) Grayson’s KingJoseph Edwards (No. 12 overall), and Allen (Texas)’s Zina Umeozulu (No. 20 overall).

Miami has also hosted Sarasota Riverview cornerback Charles Lester III (No. 24 overall) this past spring.

Inside the Top 50, Miami is involved for multiple recruits, including Hollywood Chaminade-Madonna safety Zaquan Patterson (No. 38 overall), Melissa (Texas) defensive lineman Nigel Smith (No. 39 overall), and Lake Cormorant (Miss.) defensive lineman Kamarion Franklin (No. 43 overall).

A couple of other noteworthy Top 100 prospects include Bradenton IMG Academy offensive lineman Jimothy Lewis (No. 55 overall), Tampa Wharton EDGE Booker Pickett (No. 69 overall), Miami Columbus EDGE Dylan Stephenson (No. 70 overall), Tampa Carrollwood Day safety Tavoy Feagin (No. 73), Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Chance Robinson (No. 92 overall), and Dillon (SC) offensive lineman Josiah Thompson (No. 98 overall).

Others featured inside the Top247 to know include: Loganville (Ga.) Grayson interior offensive lineman Waltclaire Flynn Jr. (No. 102 overall), Tampa Carrollwood Day wide receiver Zycarl Lewis (No. 120 overall), Tampa Carrollwood Day running back Anthony Carrie (No. 122 overall), Tampa Carrollwood Day wide receiver Bredell Richardson (No. 126 overall), Allen (Texas) quarterback Michael Hawkins (No. 141 overall), Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas safety Ryan Mack (No. 155 overall), Clearwater Academy International interior offensive lineman Jason Zandamela (No. 164 overall), Greenville (SC) wide receiver Mazeo Bennett (No. 203 overall), and Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s Prep cornerback Omillio Agard (No. 204 overall).
