Here are the top stories in Miami today:

1. Miami-Dade Public School Board member Dr. Marta Perez alleges Florida Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez has insisted people not support her campaign to keep her seat or “bad things will happen.” Dr. Perez has served on the school board for 24 years in Miami-Dade. (CBS Miami)

2. More than half a million dollars has been spent by candidates in the primary race for a Palm Beach County Commission seat in District 6. District 6 covers Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay and Wellington. Democratic state Rep. Matt Willhite and Michelle Oyola McGovern are the two leading candidates in the polls. (Florida Politics)

3. A Sunny Isles Beach woman is speaking out after she says her two Pomeranians lost their lives while in the care of her groomer. The victim, Tijana Tatkovic, has filed a report with the Sunny Isles Beach Police Department, who expect the case will be handed over to Miami-Dade Animal Control. (CBS Miami)

4. Video captured by a Carnival Cruise passenger shows the moments a group of 12 stranded migrants from Cuba were rescued. It is one of many recent attempts by Cuban migrants to make it to South Florida via water. (WPLG Local 10)

5. Baccarat Residences in Brickell is set to begin vertical construction this fall as Miami’s skyline continues to grow. The building is already 75 percent sold. The project will feature 318 tower residences, as well as 28 riverfront flats and duplexes. (The Next Miami)
