Which super conference would you want Miami to land?
On Thursday afternoon, massive conference realignment news broke that concerned PAC-12 programs USC and UCLA moving to the Big 10 in 2024.
That news broke about a year after the summer of 2021 news concerning Big 12 powers Texas and Oklahoma moving to the SEC by the 2025 season.
The landscape of college football is changing rapidly and that includes traditional conferences looking much different and potential dissolving down the road. Reading the tea leaves, it appears having two super conferences built around the SEC and the Big 10 is inevitable with the ACC, PAC-12, and Big 12 on shaky ground.
Programs that have big brands that remain in the ACC, PAC-12, or Big 12 will have a decision to make in the future: 1.) hope that their current conferences can improve their situations and compete with the revenue created by the Big 10 and SEC, 2.) OR look to join the Big 10 or the SEC.
At this time, there are no indications that the four biggest brands in the ACC—North Carolina, Florida State, Clemson, and Miami—are unsettled, but with the landscape of collegiate athletics shifting every year, those brands will need to independently or collectively make a decision about what is best for their futures.
With that in mind, we wanted to pose a hypothetical question to Miami fans: Would you rather join the Big Ten or SEC?
Both conferences have their pros and cons.
The Big 10 is probably a better match with Miami in terms of fitting the profile of the school.
The SEC is wildly passionate about college football and does a nice job of maximizing potential revenue. It is also the top college football conference.
