Here are the top five stories today in Miami:

1. Miami’s industrial market, which includes all of Miami-Dade County, is the nation’s top performer for annual rent growth, according to a JLL report. Rent climbed over 50% year-over-year, more than any other metro. (The Real Deal)

2. The Decarcerate Broward Coalition held a silent march and vigil on Saturday in honor of those affected by what they describe as the violent culture permeating the Broward Sheriff’s Office. They said Kevin Desir, a 43-year-old Broward resident, was “killed during a mental health episode at the North Broward Bureau, which is a detention center that specializes in housing individuals with special needs.” (CBS Miami)

3. Miami-Dade County has partnered with Nomi Health to offer pediatric COVID-19 vaccines to Miami-Dade families free of charge beginning this weekend. Vaccines are now available for children starting at six months and older. The vaccine drive started Saturday and is going through Wednesday. (WSVN)

4. Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava joined a pro-choice protest Friday in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood. It was her way of showing that she stands against the Supreme Court’s ruling that got rid of the constitutional protections for abortion. (WPLG Local 10)

5. City of North Miami Beach will promote Interim Chief Harvette S. Smith to Chief of Police of the NMB Police Department (NMBPD). The Office of the City Manager will host a swearing in ceremony for Interim Chief Smith at the Julius Littman Performing Arts Theater Thursday, July 7, starting at 2 p.m. (Miami’s Community News)

• A SWAT situation in South Florida’s North Lauderdale ended peacefully on Saturday, according to a spokesperson with the Broward Sheriff’s Office. No one was injured and BSO’s Special Victims Unit is investigating, the agency said. (WPLG Local 10)
• First lady Dr. Jill Biden joined local leaders at a ceremony in Surfside, as they and others at several gatherings marking the one-year anniversary of the Surfside condo collapse, consoled a community impacted by tragedy, and praised the first responders who searched for survivors. (WSVN)
