Guns For Ukraine Buy-Back Program Takes Place Saturday In Miami
MIAMI, FL — A voluntary gun buy-back program taking place Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Miami City Hall, 3500 Pan American Drive, will support Ukraine’s defense against Russia, according to a city news release.
The guns will be donated to Ukrainians fighting in the war through the nonprofit organization Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), an organization representing nearly 2 million Ukrainian Americans, the city said. The group has been addressing the war’s humanitarian challenges with direct aid delivered to Ukraine.
Miami’s city commissioners approved a resolution to buy back weapons and send them to Ukraine at their June 9 meeting. Through this resolution, the guns and other items, including surplus police safety equipment, will be shipped to Ukraine through the city’s partnership with the UCCA.
