🌱 Miami Man Adulterated HIV Drug Charges + Carjacking 2-County Chase

Here are the top five stories in Miami today:

1. A reported armed carjacking in Broward County led to a two-county police pursuit on Thursday morning that then spilled over to Miami-Dade County. The chase ended in Opa-locka, where the suspected was arrested and taken into custody. (CBS Miami)

2. A man was rushed to the hospital in critical condition after being shot near the Rickenbacker Causeway, Miami police said. Officers responded to reports of a person shot at 3000 Rickenbacker Causeway, under the William M. Powell Bridge, at around 4:30 a.m. Saturday. An investigation is underway. (WPLG Local 10)

3. There is a stunning South Florida property on the market for the first time in nearly 40 years and it’s worth $100 million. It is the epitome of Palm Beach elegance amidst Golden Beach’s prized amenities including access to a private beach, tennis courts, clubhouse and its own police force. (Miami Patch)

4. A Miami man, 51-year-old Lazaro Hernandez, has been arrested and is facing federal charges after authorities said he distributed more than $230 million in adulterated HIV drugs throughout the country. He is charged with conspiracy to deliver into interstate commerce adulterated and misbranded drugs, conspiracy to traffic in medical products with false documentation, conspiracy to commit money laundering and specific money laundering offenses. 5. A bankrupt LLC owned by Centro Miami developer Harvey Hernandez has reached a deal to sell nine of the building’s condos for $3.2 million after a judge approved its Chapter 11 reorganization plan. Proceeds from the sale will be used to pay off Centro NGD’s creditors. (Subscription: The Real Deal)

• Joshua Simmons was the first Black person to win a seat on the Coral Springs City Commission in 2018 and will be running unopposed for his second term. Two, four-year terms on the City Commission is the maximum allowed per the Coral Springs’ city charter. (Florida Politics)
