The Miami Heat’s 2021-22 season was a season to remember. They were the top seed in the East and this was a testament to the depth of the team. It seemed that every player was ready to step up to the plate and excel in a bigger role.

Well—every player except for Duncan Robinson. Duncan Robinson had one of the most perplexing seasons in Miami Heat history.

From signing the biggest contract as an undrafted player to logging DNPs in the playoffs, the fall-off was quite unpredictable.

Coming into the season, it was understood that Duncan may have been overpaid, but Miami needed to pay him, as they had his Bird Rights and didn’t want to let their “specialist” walk away for nothing. The deal was deemed “worth it”, as you knew what you were going to get from him.

Nearly a year later, everyone is laughing at the deal and Miami is stuck asking themself, “what happened?”
