Workforce housing is economic development, chamber session told

Workforce housing gaps are really economic development issues as much as real estate concerns, a Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce lunch focused on workforce housing was told last week.
“What I tried to impress upon people is that this is not a housing issue,” said Albert Milo Jr., president of Related Urban Development, created in 2009 to develop affordable and workforce housing which now has 3,500 units in partnership with governments in the state. “This is an economic development. This is a long-term sustainability issue because every employer, every field, everyone is being affected by what’s happening in the marketplace.”
