Dae Dae Grant, a 1,000-Point Scorer at Miami University, Joins 2022-23 Roster
PITTSBURGH – Duquesne University head men’s basketball coach Keith Dambrot announced today that Dae Dae Grant (Lorain, Ohio/Miami, Ohio) has enrolled, making the Miami University (Ohio) transfer the ninth member of the 2022-23 recruiting class.
The 6-2 guard will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
Grant, who started every game (87 of a possible 87) in his three seasons at Miami scored 1,171 points (13.5 ppg.), made 165 3-pointers and handed out 247 assists (2.8 apg.) as a RedHawk. His 561 points in 2022 – which included 11 20-point games – was the tenth-highest single-season total in school history.
“Dae Dae played in a lot of games, and put up some very good numbers, in a very good league,” said Dambrot. “We recruited him out of high school and we are very fortunate to have him join us this season. Guys from Northeast Ohio are usually pretty tough kids, and we anticipate he’ll bring some of that toughness, to go along with his obvious skills, to our program.”
Grant led Miami in scoring (17.5 ppg.), 3-point field goals (70-of-204, .343), free throws made (87-of-102, .853), assists (132, 4.1 apg.) and minutes per game (33.1) in earning All-Mid-American Conference honorable mention honors last season. His 2.24-to-1 assist/turnover ratio led the MAC and his 17.5 points per game ranked sixth in the conference.
Grant, who earned a spot on the MAC All-Freshman Team in 2019-20, was a Third Team All-MAC pick after leading the RedHawks in scoring at 13.7 ppg. as a sophomore. He scored in double digits 61 times at Miami (17 as a freshman, 15 in a pandemic-shortened sophomore season and 29 as a junior).
“Having three guards in Dae Dae, Tevin Brewer (FIU) and Tre Clark (VCU) with proven Division I experience in this recruiting class should really help us prepare for – and be extremely competitive in – the Atlantic 10,” added Dambrot.
Grant is the second Miami transfer to enroll at Duquesne under Dambrot, joining two-time second team All-Atlantic 10 forward Marcus Weathers who scored 1,014 points in three seasons at DU from 2018-19 through 2020-21.
